Morsgail Lodge

Morsgail Estate is a wonderfully secluded estate of some 14,000 acres situated on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis with a very comfortable fully refurbished modern lodge and excellent unspoilt salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing.  The estate and lodge are accessed by a two mile private road from the coast road, and this is the only road on the estate.

Morsgail Lodge is a completely renovated and warm house, accessed from the main road by a private road, and includes: 5 en suite bedrooms (three doubles and two twins), spacious kitchen/dining room with spectacular views over the loch to the hills beyond, reception room with superb views of the hills and loch, fishing/gun room, full central heating, drying room, and TV room. The lodge is offered on a self catered basis.


TV,Sky and WiFi are all available, but whilst the lodge has a land line, mobile reception at the lodge is limited, although a signal can be obtained from local
vantage points.

Dogs are welcome on the estate, but not in the house. Kennels are provided nearby.

Fishing

Fishing on the Morsgail system (river & loch) for salmon and sea trout.
Fishing is by fly only and 100% catch and release. There is river fishing on the Morsgail river. The lower river is easily accessed from the private road to the lodge,
which runs alongside the river, whilst the upper river is a short walk from the lodge.  There are additionally two boats with outboard motors on Loch Morsgail, which lies in
front of the lodge.  Boat and bank fishing on Loch Langavat for salmon and trout, head water of the world famous Grimersta system. Access to Langavat is by argocat.

River and estuary fishing on Ken Loch Resort – considered by many to be the finest part of the Estate but a good 1.5-2 hour walk, or by estate argocat. There is a
refurbished bothy with bedrooms, shower, wood burning stove, for overnight stays. 

 

Non-sporting Activities

Sea Kayak

Explore the incredibly diverse coastline of Lewis & Harris with sweeping white sand beaches to rocky inlets.   You will see sea birds, from gannets to oyster catchers and curious seals are often popping their heads up.  If you are lucky you might glimpse an otter or a porpoise coming up for air.  Half Day & Full Day Trips available which include stops in secluded bays for a snacks and lunches.  

St Kilda

Enjoy a Boat Trip out to the remote St Kilda.  One of only 38 locations on the planet to be awarded dual UNESCO World Heritage status for natural and cultural importance, the islands of St Kilda offer visitors a unique and fascinating experience.   With Sea Harris, you can sail past the highest sea cliffs in the UK, teeming with seabirds, and walk along the deserted street of Village Bay, abandoned in 1930 after 2000 years of continuous habitation.

Wildlife Cruises

Enjoy opportunity of seeing seals, basking sharks, dolphins and many species of birds in the waters around Lewis & Harris.

Sea Fishing

There is a range of sea-fishing in the waters of Lewis & Harris including mackerel and herring -  abundant during the summer season and the occasional cod can be caught as well on the cleaner ground.

Golf - there are great golf courses in Stornoway on Lewis and the Isle of Harris Golf Club - golf as it should be!
