Built in the 19th century, The Fife Arms Hotel is a Braemar landmark and is a category B listed building. Its size is evidence of the popularity of Braemar in the wake of Queen Victoria’s visits and her purchase of Balmoral. Re-opened in 2018, the hotel has been beautifully restored and is now a unique hotel experience.
With 46 individually decorated rooms, each reflecting the story of Braemar, all are very comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. Royal & Victoriana Suites, Scottish Culture & Nature & Poetry rooms, Craft & Family rooms as well as a one-off Artist's studio - something for everyone.
Dining in the hotel includes the more informal Flying Stag, formal dining in the Clunie room and private dining experiences too. The Fife Arms showcases the finest seasonal produce for which Scotland is world-famous. From fresh seafood and game to local whiskies and spirits, many of the ingredients used in the kitchens and bars is sourced from local suppliers, gamekeepers and farmers.
Art is central to The Fife Arms experience. As co-founders of the acclaimed global gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Iwan and Manuela Wirth have been passionately dedicated for many years to modern and contemporary art. More than 14,000 pieces including both antiques and specially commissioned artworks have been thoughtfully integrated into every room, corridor, and corner. The hotel can organise special tours of all the art for guests which allow you to experience the world class art which can be found throughout the hotel, from Pablo Picasso, Lucian Freud, Gerhard Richter and Bruegel to site specific commissions from contemporary art stars and water colours by Queen Victoria and Prince Charles.
Set in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, it is a brilliant base for outdoor enthusiasts - whether you are keen on hillwalking, fishing, cycling or wildlife. There are Whisky distilleries to visit, beautiful gardens and historic homes & castles too.
