House of Glennie

The House of Glennie lies in the picturesque countryside of the Middle Deveron, one of Scotland's premier salmon rivers.

Glennie is a wonderful location for a family holiday.  It is an extremely comfortable home, not just a simple lodge in the wilderness.  Books, games, interesting contents, hot baths, a lovely garden and setting; croquet, table tennis, and of course the fishing, which is 30 yards from the house.  There is no need to get in the car as Glennie is a secluded world of its own.

The house can be booked on its own or with fishing.  Whatever your preferred activity, Glennie is well located and a pleasure to return to at the end of a full day.

Location & Surrounding Area

It is 50 minutes from Aberdeen and is perfectly positioned in a secluded location on the banks of the River Deveron, one of Scotland's premier salmon rivers. The interiors are traditional, spacious and comfortable, and Glennie has the relaxed feel of a family home.

There are many activities to enjoy in the surrounding countryside – head north to enjoy the pretty Scottish fishing villages and beaches, or west for Speyside. Fine castles, houses & gardens, whisky distilleries and golf courses are dotted throughout the area.

Fishing

Glennie stands on the banks of the Deveron, one of Scotland's premier salmon rivers and Glennie is one of the best beats on the whole river.

It is a 2 rod beat with 10 named pools.  Around 100 salmon and sea trout are caught each year.  There is a mile of double bank, well kept river at the foot of the garden - enough for 2 rods.  If more fishing is required there are many suitable beats to be had elsewhere.

Glennie is unique in offering fishing within a short walk of the house, ensuring ease of access and the flexibility to return to the house for breaks in the day. Lunch can be taken in the charming fishing hut or in the main house.

Painting

Glennie and the surrounding area is a painter's paradise. Bring your brushes with you!
